Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The flags do not carry prayers to gods,
which is a common misconception; rather, the Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good
will and compassion into all pervading space.
 
The Most common prayer flag is also called Lungta which means Wind Horse, it also contain bodhisattva of compassion.

The Prayer flag carry sutras ,Mantras, Prayers text which denotes the words of compassion, love , harmony and good will to all
beings. Due to vibration of wind the good will compassion and metta and positive energy will flow to all the direction.
There fore it is tradition to put flag in the house and holy place, mountains etc.
The color of Prayer flag denotes the five element as Yellow- earth, , green- water, Red- fire, White- air, Blue -sky.
 
In Modern days : It is hanged in your garden to show our to support Tibetan people.
